Ok....so all you experienced moms out there....help!! We started REALLY potty training on Saturday...and after three times successfully in her potty and three accidents in her underwear....we thought it was a pretty productive day. But....that was the last time she went in the potty!! I tried the sticker reinforcement, jelly bean treats and potty prizes.....but nothing is sticking!! She has told me that she will go when she gets "bigger bigger" and just keeps nodding her head and saying "yes" as I try to talk to her (totally not listening). So....just curious as to what tricks have worked with all of you.....after several days of unsuccessful pull ups we are back to diapers right now....I totally think she is ready but just not clicking. However, she does love to sit on it a lot and read her books! AHHH. Not really thinking I am going to enjoy this phase. When do the potty training fairies come to help?

Every child is different when it comes to potty training. My kids did not potty train until they were three. This may sound late to some but this worked out well for us because they could communicate better than at the age of two, they did not revert back to diapers at any point, and they never wet the bed. Since this is your first one I wouldn't stress over it too much. Angel just may not be totally ready yet, and that's ok.
Joanna : )
No advice, but that will make a great photo to pull out when she goes on her first date.
I do agree with Joanna. We (er, uh, I ha, ha) just trained Becca around August/September (she just turned 3 in October).
I took a week and planned on staying home. There are so many little tricks people use. One thing that helped was to get her on the potty first thing in the morning since that's when most people need to go. From there, guess as to when she may need to go again. Some people put the child on the potty every hour but I usually waited a couple hours and tried. It did take awhile since she is NOT a morning person.
Someone I talked with at OLSOS said they take the child into the bathroom and spend a whole day there and repeat if necessary. The child doesn't wear any clothes, the parent stays with the child and they eat and play while remaining in the bathroom until the child "gets it". I think it was the husband who did this and the wife was there for the other kids.
Maybe another thing is to take her to the bathroom with you when you go and have her go at the same time? I did this with Becca and she'd clap for me after each trip. :) She continues to do this even in a PUBLIC restroom!
Good luck - she'll catch on and when she does it'll be so fast.
Check out this GREAT post about potty training. It is funny and incredibly helpful. I saved it in my favorites for when we potty train Isaac (maybe next summer? who knows when!)

Cheri - I loved that post too, had it on my shared post sidebar at one point. Gives some good tips and I think each child will have their own unique tricks that work. Angel was seeming totally ready until we started trying, now thinking she likes the idea but not ready to follow through yet....we shall see....
